The ZSS 1500 Air Cooler is a forced-air hydraulic oil cooling unit engineered for the ZERMA America ZSS 1500 and Virtus Equipment G Series general purpose single-shaft shredders. The ZSS 1500 features a 457mm diameter E-type rotor at 1500mm cutting width, driven by a 75kW gearbox and powered by an integrated hydraulic power pack that drives the two-speed swing ram. Continuous shredding operation generates significant heat in the hydraulic circuit, and this air cooler dissipates that heat by forcing ambient air across an aluminum fin-and-tube heat exchanger core, returning cooled oil to the reservoir and keeping fluid viscosity and system pressure within the designed operating range.
The unit mounts to the shredder housing or hydraulic power pack enclosure and connects inline on the hydraulic return line. A directional arrow sticker on the blue steel shroud must be observed during installation to confirm correct fan rotation direction. On three-phase installations, swapping any two incoming power leads will reverse fan direction if initial rotation is incorrect. The unit is typically wired in conjunction with a thermostat switch so the fan motor only engages when hydraulic oil temperature exceeds the set threshold, reducing unnecessary motor cycling during light-duty operation.
